On May 27-28, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat hosted a training seminar aimed at strengthening interaction between government institutions and the media through the use of new technologies.
The event was attended by representatives of the country's ministries and departments, as well as media outlets. Invited international experts were Professor, Senior Adviser to the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Guido Kehl and strategic communications expert Zhivile Navickaite-Babkin (Lithuania) shared their experience, skills and modern practices of press services of state institutions using digital tools.
New technologies used by press services of government institutions are aimed at competent and effective interaction with the public and the media. The seminar discussed the creation of press releases, rules of public speaking, corporate editorial concepts and principles of effective communication.
The growing role of multimodal communications, that is, the use of a variety of formats and channels for transmitting information. This includes text, images, video, audio, and interactive platforms. The goal of this approach is to ensure wide audience reach and effective interaction by adapting messages to their preferences.
The Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, Ambassador John MacGregor, highlighted the success of the long-term cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan. He particularly noted the importance of this partnership in the context of further enhancing the professional qualifications of press service employees and national media, which is especially relevant in a situation where all Government institutions of Turkmenistan have official websites, which are a key source of information for the country's population.
