In commemoration of International Children’s Day, celebrated on June 1, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Office in Turkmenistan, in partnership with the country’s Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, the Ombudsman’s Office, and the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, united 300 children in the traditional Turkmen dance kushtdepdi in front of the “Älem” Cultural and Entertainment Center in Ashgabat.
Kushtdepdi became an expression of unity and cultural pride, a powerful message of peace and trust.

According to Alexandru Nartea, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan, kushtdepdi is more than just a dance. It is a circle of unity, happiness, and shared joy – just like the peace we want to create for children.
The dance will be broadcast on June 1 on the “Yashlyk” TV channel.

In the run-up to International Children’s Day, the UNICEF Office in Turkmenistan, together with the Ombudsman’s Office, also organized an awareness campaign to increase children’s knowledge about the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The event brought together over 170 schoolchildren in creative contests and interactive sessions.
