A course was conducted for specialists in the field of prevention, surveillance and control of zoonotic diseases

The World Health Organization Country Office in Turkmenistan, together with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, completed a five-day course for national specialists in the field of prevention, surveillance and control of zoonotic diseases.

In the future, graduates of the course will conduct cascade trainings for health workers, veterinarians and public health specialists at the regional, district and city levels. The training covered a wide range of topics, including principles of prevention and control of zoonotic infections, epidemiological surveillance and early detection systems, interdepartmental cooperation within the framework of the "One Health" concept.

The course was conducted by Natalya Pshenichnaya, an expert from the WHO Regional Office for Europe, in close cooperation with representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, veterinary services and other interested parties.

During the training, issues of further strengthening mechanisms for the control of zoonotic diseases were also discussed with national partners.
