In our independent and permanently neutral country, great personalities who have left a noticeable mark on our glorious history are held in high esteem. This not only serves as a school of courage for the younger generation—the future of our Motherland—but also as a call to continue the glorious path of their valiant ancestors.
The fact that 2025, declared the International year of peace and trust, marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of poet and military leader Seyitnazar Seydi, is a clear example of this. A large-scale event dedicated to the poet's anniversary was recently held at the Turkmen state pedagogical institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi. It was attended by faculty and students of the university, as well as representatives of the creative intelligentsia.
The creative meeting, «The Poetic World of Poet-Commander Seyitnazar Seydi», began with poems written by student members of the «Poetic Generation» literary circle. These young talents were warmly received by the event's participants. This was followed by insightful presentations by scholars studying the life and work of Seyitnazar Seydi, as well as their research and theoretical works. The presentations explored the poet-commander's complex life, his views on the sanctity of the Motherland, heroism, and the profound meaning of his poems about patriotism, courage, and love. During the creative meeting, videos were shown, filmed during a tour of the poet's monument, located in the city of Garabekevul, near the Soltanniyaz Beg fortress, by faculty, students, and writers.
The event concluded with a literary and musical composition, «The epoch in which Seyitnazar Seydi lived», prepared by students. It is important to note that the higher education institution named after the poet is conducting research into the life and work of the poet and military leader. Specifically, newspapers and magazines have published scholarly articles based on precise data about the destan «Shirmayinama», composed by the poet's beloved Hatyja, and its connection to the complex epoch in which Seyitnazar Seydi lived.
At the end of the creative meeting, the talented youth of the oldest higher education institution enthusiastically recited the poet's poems. They also expressed gratitude to Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for their high regard for our glorious history and great personalities.
