On October 4, international CrossFit competitions, Fitness Games, took place at the indoor athletics arena of the Olympic Complex in Ashgabat. The sports event was organized by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Turkmenistan with the support of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE.
The ceremonial opening of the symbolic friendship games was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country, media representatives, and students. The opening ceremony was enhanced by demonstration performances from the participants.
The sports competitions involved Turkmen athletes in track and field, gymnasts, young masters of Eastern martial arts, amateur sportsmen from Ashgabat, and members of the diplomatic corps in the country. The games program included a short public family run with children, a dance contest, and a burpee complex (squats, push-ups, and jump-ups from squats). Winners of the Fitness Games received valuable prizes and gifts on behalf of the UAE Embassy.
As part of the event, a lottery was held to distribute Fly Dubai airline tickets, and traditional treats were offered to spectators and participants.
Speaking at the ceremony, the UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan highlighted the fruitful dynamics of the relations between the two friendly countries, which have been developing for three decades based on comprehensive partnership, principles of mutual respect and equality, reflecting the best qualities of the Turkmen people. The diplomat expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the government for the steady expansion of interstate cooperation.
In turn, Shokhrat Mammedov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, stated that international sports cooperation is actively developing thanks to the tireless care of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag. Mammedov also added that Independent Neutral Turkmenistan promotes its inherent high values through sports, which form the foundation of understanding between peoples, peace and friendship.
