From November 17 to 22, the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi is hosting training sessions within the educational projects “Teaching the Great” — a school for foreign teachers of the Russian language — and “Learning the Great” — a Russian language school for students.
The event for Turkmen teachers and students is organized by Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University in cooperation with the My History Foundation for the Support of Human Sciences, with the assistance of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
Classes for teachers and students are conducted by leading specialists of the Russian pedagogical university:
— Konstantin Andreevich Kalinin, Head of the Department of Russian and Tatar Philology, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor;
— Alexandra Viktorovna Potanina, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian and Tatar Philology, Candidate of Philological Sciences.
During the training, open lectures and master classes are held for the students of the Turkmen university to improve and deepen their knowledge of the Russian language.
In sessions with the specialists, the students explore the origins of Russian words, learn interesting facts on this topic, actively discuss the role of language in shaping a nation’s culture, and participate with enthusiasm in practical classes on semantic reading of Russian-language texts.
Under the program “Innovative Strategies and Methods of Teaching the Russian Language,” university teachers undergo training. They take part in informative open lectures and seminars on current issues of Russian language teaching methodology. Educators examine modern technologies for developing students’ reading literacy, methods of in-depth teaching of the Russian language, as well as tools for assessing learning outcomes.
As part of the working program, NGPU specialists have arranged a series of practice-oriented classes on methods of teaching Russian language and literature for participants of the institute’s professional development faculty — teachers of general secondary schools in Turkmenistan.
The educational event at the Turkmen university is held in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of science and education between the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi and Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University, signed in October 2024.
This educational initiative is designed to promote the improvement of Russian language teaching and learning in Turkmenistan, as well as to strengthen and further develop academic and methodological cooperation between universities in this field.
Holding the training sessions within the educational projects “Teaching the Great” and “Learning the Great” at the Turkmen institute is another significant event reflecting the strengthening humanitarian ties and friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Russia.
