Architectural and Construction University of Turkmenistan Announces Winners of the First Online Cartography Olympiad

The winners of the First Online Cartography Olympiad, held among students of higher education institutions in Turkmenistan, have been announced. The Olympiad was organized by the Department of Geodesy of the Faculty of Road Construction at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction.

The Olympiad, which took place on December 17, brought together 105 students from 21 universities across the country. The results were summarized in both individual and team categories.

In the individual competition, prize places were awarded to nine participants.

First place was won by Mukhammet Amanov, a student of the Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding, and Aziza Kurbanbaeva, a student of the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages.

Second place was awarded to Gulberdi Orazov, a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction; Gundogdy Aymammedov, a student of the Border Institute of Turkmenistan; and Oguldursun Nezhimetdinova, a student of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas.

Third place was taken by Saparmyrat Nazarov (Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan), Ismayil Hodjanepesov (Turkmen Agricultural Institute), Sakhra Bashimova (Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan), and Yaran Gurbanov (S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University).

The team competition results were as follows:

First place – Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding and the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction;

Second place – Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, and the Border Institute of Turkmenistan;

Third place – the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute.

The Cartography Olympiad, held for the first time by a Turkmen higher education institution, became an effective platform for identifying talented, well-educated, and broad-minded youth; assessing students’ level of subject knowledge; consolidating and deepening their skills and competencies; stimulating creative and scientific activity; developing critical thinking, digital literacy, and independent work skills; as well as strengthening friendly ties and exchanging mutually beneficial scientific information among students.

The Olympiad was conducted as part of the implementation of the objectives outlined in the “Concept for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan” and the “Concept for Improving the Teaching of Natural and Exact Sciences in Turkmenistan.”
