The intellectual tournament  «Winter Cup 2025» took place in Ashgabat

The «Winter Cup 2025» intellectual tournament, organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, attracted a record number of participants, over three hundred. Teams included representatives from universities, high school students, and specialists from various fields.

Held for the fifth consecutive year, tournament of this year was dedicated to European Christmas and New Year traditions. Many participants began preparing in advance, studying the customs and culture of European Union member states. Some travelled to Ashgabat from the provinces specifically to test their knowledge and try their luck.

During the competition, which consisted of two main rounds and a final, participants were asked questions that tested logic and erudition. They were given only one minute to think and answer, which added to the tension.

For convenience, «Winter Cup» host Hemra Atabayev read out the questions in Turkmen and Russian. A competent jury, consisting of Daniil Maykovskiy, Sapar Annarejepov, and Roman Bespalov, oversaw the intellectual battles.

Following a tense battle, the two strongest teams advanced to the final. They had to play to six points for first and second place. Initially, the opponents were neck and neck, answering questions correctly. However, one team soon pulled ahead and took the lead.

The «NKB» team of experts won. The «Chocolate Owl» team placed second, and the «Smile and Wave» team took third. Borislav Dimitrov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, arrived to congratulate the winners and present them with certificates. He expressed his delight at the success of young participants and wished them further victories and new achievements.

The tournament program was enriched by a performance by popular Turkmen singer Shad Ovez. The musical interludes added to the festive atmosphere and were warmly received by the audience.

The «Winter Cup 2025» intellectual tournament, held as part of the International year of peace and trust, highlighted the importance of international dialogue, educational initiatives, and youth integration. Talented young people in Turkmenistan demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, expanding their skills, and participating in Olympiads, demonstrating the significant intellectual potential of country.
