Annual scientific research competition among young people announced in Turkmenistan

The Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan have announced the holding of an annual competition of scientific works among the country’s youth.

Young people under the age of 35 who are members of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan are eligible to participate in the competition. These include employees of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, research institutes, the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences, production associations, scientific and technical enterprises, students of higher education institutions, master’s, postgraduate and doctoral programs, secondary and secondary vocational educational institutions, as well as Turkmen citizens of various professions who demonstrate a special interest in scientific activity.

Scientific works are accepted in six main areas: Nanotechnology, chemical technologies, research of new materials and energy; Biotechnology, molecular biology, agriculture, ecology and genetics; Information and communication systems, computer technologies; Modern medicine and pharmaceutical production technologies; Innovative economy; Humanities.

The scientific works submitted to the competition will be reviewed by a specially formed expert group consisting of scientists and specialists in the relevant fields of science and technology. The works will be evaluated according to such criteria as the relevance of the topic and content, practical applicability, clarity of purpose, scientific novelty, materials and methodology of the research, and confirmation of scientific results.

The competition will be held in three stages. The results of the scientific review will traditionally be announced on Science Day, which is celebrated annually in the country on June 12. The winners of the scientific works competition will be awarded valuable prizes.

Young scientists wishing to participate in the competition must submit their scientific works to the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan by February 15 of the current year. Works are accepted at the building of the Center of Public Organizations of Turkmenistan at the following address: Ashgabat, Garashsyzlyk Avenue, 104.

The state review, established by the President of the country in February 2015, is aimed at promoting the development of national science, forming a new generation of scientists, and stimulating their research activities in the most important, significant and in-demand fields.

The competition is held annually by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan with the aim of ensuring the wide implementation of scientific developments by talented youth in various sectors of the national economy, promoting the principles of mentorship in science, and achieving high results in training qualified specialists proficient in innovative technologies.
