Oguz Han University named among final eight of the THE Awards Asia 2026

The Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan has once again strengthened its leadership position and confirmed its high standing by being shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious THE Awards Asia 2026 in the category Research Project of the Year: STEM.

The outstanding achievements of the Turkmen university were recognized by international experts from Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia last year as well, when Oguz Han University was named among the top eight finalists in the category Student Recruitment Campaign of the Year.

This year, the university has made a new qualitative leap, gaining international recognition in the field of fundamental and applied scientific research and STEM education, which is based on the integration and comprehensive study of scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical disciplines.

Experts highly praised the practical relevance of the university’s scientific developments, reflecting the advancement of cutting-edge research in engineering and high technologies, the creation of a unique ecosystem for young scientists, and the growing authority of Turkmen science on the international stage.

Being ranked among the top eight in the STEM category underscores that Oguz Han University is not only a magnet for talented youth but also a powerful research hub. This achievement places the Turkmen university alongside leading technological universities of Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Competition for the THE Awards Asia, widely known as the “Oscars of higher education,” was particularly intense this year. Hundreds of leading Asian universities competed for top honors. The organizers received more than 500 applications across 10 categories covering the full spectrum of university activities. Ultimately, 80 finalists (eight in each category) were selected, representing 17 countries and territories.

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a ceremony in Hong Kong on April 22, on the opening day of the THE Asia Universities Summit, which will be held in partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
