The Turkmen delegation participates in the international conference on Afghanistan

An international high-level conference on Afghanistan "The Peace Process, Cooperation in the Sphere of Security and Regional Cooperation" was conducted in Tashkent.

The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of India, the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia German, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Security Policy Federica Mogerini, special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, the UK, Germany, Italy, Special Adviser to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the special envoy of the Foreign Ministry of Qatar, as well as representatives of international organizations participated in the forum.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in his speech noted the importance of the international transport corridor "Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman", and the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan emphasized the importance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, which is intended to give a powerful impetus to the development of economies in the region.

The political-diplomatic and financial-economic aspects of the reconstruction of Afghanistan, mechanisms of interaction in the context of solving the Afghan problems, as well as combating threats such as terrorism, radicalism and extremism were discussed at the forum.

An exchange of views on the issue of uniting the efforts of the European Union, Central Asian countries and Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism and extremism took place during the conference. The Tashkent Declaration was adopted following the results of the international conference, which reflects such goals as ensuring peace and security in the region, strengthening cooperation in all areas, and facilitating the integration of Afghanistan into regional socio-economic processes.

Within the framework of the forum, the heads of the foreign ministries of the countries of the "European Union-Central Asia" format held a meeting, during which the prospects of the region's economic development, as well as issues of inter-regional cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, investment, technological and educational spheres were discussed.
