The XVIII Japanese language oratory Competition was held at the Turkmen national institute of world languages named after Dovletmammet Azady on the initiative of the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan, Mr. Sasaki Hiroshi, and representatives of the embassy were the guests of honour at the traditional event at the university.

Students from the Turkmen national institute of world languages named after Dovletmammet Azady and the Engineering and technology University of Turkmenistan named after Oguz han took part in the competition.
Participants demonstrated their Japanese language skills to the public at two levels: beginner and advanced. The initial level of students of language skills was assessed by reciting a Japanese fairy tale. In this case, correct and clear pronunciation, competent use of intonation and pauses, and the ability to freely and expressively reproduce the text from memory when speaking in front of an audience were taken into account.
Participants demonstrated their advanced Japanese proficiency through presentations based on their own essays on free topics. The jury assessed the participants based on the following criteria: correct Japanese speech delivery, voice expressiveness, grammatical accuracy, meaningfulness of the presentation, and compliance with competition requirements.
The performances fully demonstrated the language skills, communication and creativity, oral communication skills, and public speaking in Japanese of the students.
The excellent performance of contestants on stage left a lasting impression on the guests and once again served as convincing evidence of the growing, genuine interest among Turkmen youth in learning Japanese.
Following the competition, the winners were ceremoniously presented with diplomas and valuable gifts from a number of Japanese companies.
Students who took I and II place in the competition and demonstrated confident proficiency in Japanese at an advanced level were invited to participate in the upcoming Regional conversational Japanese language competition among students from Central Asian countries.
