On the eve of International Women’s Day, the capital of Turkmenistan was immersed in an atmosphere of outstanding vocal art. On March 3, two concerts took place on the stage of the National Music and Drama Theatre named after Magtymguly, becoming a true gift for the city’s residents and guests. The festive program was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the country and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan.
The musical evening, which brought together distinguished masters on one stage, symbolized warmth and friendship between nations. On this day, the Ashgabat audience welcomed a special guest — Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation), Albert Zhalilov, accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Resul Gylyjov.
The evening’s program was rich with musical compositions beloved by different generations. The audience heard works by Rejep Gutlyev set to the poetry of Gara Seyitliyev, as well as pieces from the golden treasury of Russian classics: music by Alexandra Pakhmutova, Eugen Doga, Raimonds Pauls, Arno Babajanyan, and Georgy Portnov.
After the performance, Albert Zhalilov shared his impressions with a correspondent from “GA.” The artist noted the special energy of the Turkmen capital.
“This is my second time in Turkmenistan, and the audience here is truly southern and passionate. I was born in Astrakhan, so mutual understanding between me and the audience arises instantly. I devote myself completely to my art, and the audience responds in kind — these are incredible emotions,” said the singer.
The artist also emphasized the cozy atmosphere of the theater, noting that despite its scale, the hall retains an almost homely warmth. Turkmen culture holds a special place in the guest’s heart. According to Zhalilov, a significant event for him was visiting the monument to Magtymguly Fragi.
“Magtymguly Fragi is a profound sage and a symbol of the Turkmen mentality. His poetry contains the true spirit of the East. Philosophers do not speak directly; they guide you through deep reflections, allowing you to find your own path. For me, as a creative person, this figure is priceless,” the guest shared.
The concert was memorable not only for its vocal performances but also for the artistic reading of letters written by great figures to their beloved ones. In the artist’s opinion, in today’s fast-paced world of technology, it is especially important for women to hear a “living” word.
“Every man has his own muse. I would like men to write poems more often to their mothers, wives, and daughters. Romance should be present in our lives, because women are waiting for it,” emphasized Albert Zhalilov.
The artist also addressed warm wishes to all the women of our country, wishing them prosperity, peaceful skies above their heads, and great family happiness.
