The official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan starts on April 23.

The visit is to offer new incentives for the further enhancement of the fruitful cooperation between our countries and peoples connected with the ties of sincere friendship and good neighbourliness, centuries-old cultural and spiritual affinity.

The regular character and the efficiency of the top level meetings between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, each of which turns into a detailed discussion of a wide spectrum of issues on cooperation and the agreements vividly testify the high level of the interstate dialogue. In this regard, it should be noted that at present the regulatory and legal framework of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations includes more than 180 documents. Among them is the Agreement on the strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan signed during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to our country in March, 2017.

During the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to our country in 2017, the leaders of the two states took part in the ceremony of opening of a railway and highway bridges Turkmenabat – Farab in Lebap Velayat. The favourable geographic position of our countries opens up wide opportunities for cooperation in the transport and communications sphere that stands as a key factor of the successful economic development and prosperity.

As is known, Uzbekistan actively supports the large regional and international projects initiated by Turkmenistan with the aim to unify the transport systems of Asia and Europe, the Middle East. The neighbouring state demonstrates particular interest in using the opportunities of the transport corridor running through the Caspian Sea, including the new International Sea Port in Turkmenbashi that will be put into operation soon.

The energy sector stands as a strategic area of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership. That is vividly proved by the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline put into operation jointly in December, 2009. The implementation of this ambitious project significantly contributed to the establishment of the new architecture of the global energy safety.

The Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on the trade and economic, scientific and technological and cultural cooperation that held its regular 14th session in Tashkent this March plays a crucial role in the diversification of the efficient relations in various spheres.

Another bright evidence of the successful economic partnership is the number of famous Uzbek companies and joint enterprises at the Turkmen market.

The direct relations between some regions of the two countries consistently develop, in particular in the business sphere that is facilitated by joint business forums and economic exhibitions. Thus, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have all the opportunities to increase the volumes of mutual trade, investments and implementation of mutually beneficial projects in various sectors of economy.

The political dialogue established between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan successfully develops at the international arena in framework of the UN, OSCE, CIS, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and other authoritative structures.

Particular attention is also paid to the humanitarian sphere. The visit of a group of children from Uzbekistan to the Avaza National tourism zone on the Caspian Sea at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan in 2017 stands as a bright symbol of the good neighbour relations.

The forthcoming top-level talks in Tashkent will promote the further development of the Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation. On the outcomes of the top-level meeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents aimed at bringing the bilateral partnership up to the new levels. The National exhibition of Turkmenistan and a joint business-forum will be organized in the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
