State visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan by the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, continues. The program of the second day of the Turkmen leader’s visit to Uzbekistan includes the opening ceremony of the Turkmen–Uzbek House of Friendship in the city of Urgench, and a tour around historical and cultural sites in Khiva.

Yesterday’s Turkmen–Uzbek talks in Tashkent were a great success, and confirmed that the two neighboring countries and peoples remain committed to the traditions of friendship and brotherhood, and stand ready to strengthen and develop their fruitful cooperation. This was manifested by a solid package of bilateral documents that seek to further scale up the interstate dialog.

Early in the morning the Presidential motorcade proceeded from the temprorary residence to the Islam Karimov International Airport, from where the Turkmen leader flew to Urgench, the administrative center of Xorazm region.

At the Urgench Airport, decorated with state flags of the two countries, the Turkmen leader was welcomed by the President of Uzbekistan.

Children recited poems in Turkmen and Uzbek languages, and then were photographed with the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Musical and vocal ensembles and dance bands, representing a diversity of national customs and traditions, performed for the heads of state.

Then the joint motorcade of the Presidents of the two neighboring countries traveled to Urgench’s Turkmanlar Mahallasi district, where a Turkmen diaspora resides, to attend the opening ceremony of the House of Turkmen–Uzbek Friendship.

Further scheduled events also include a visit to a historic fort of Uly Howly and a trip to Khiva.
