The President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, received the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication of the Republic of Turkey, Ahmet Arslan.
The guest expressed his congratulations on the commissioning of the modern International seaport and conveyed the greetings from the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In return, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes to the highest authorities of the Republic of Turkey.
At the meeting, the sides specifically discussed cooperation in the spheres of transport and transit. An example of effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey in this strategic dimension is the project for the construction of the new Turkmenbashi International seaport that was implemented together with Turkish partners.
It was noted that the commissioning of cutting-edge terminals on the Caspian coast will foster intensification of regional and interregional commercial and economic ties; offer new enormous opportunities for optimization of transport flows in Eurasia; and provide to all interested countries a convenient access to European, Asian and Far Eastern markets, the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, including Black Sea ports of Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Romania and other countries.
Ahmet Arslan highlighted that Turkey’s business circles seek to continue their active participation in major transformative programs and infrastructure projects ongoing in Turkmenistan, and expressed to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov his gratitude for constant constructive attention to the issues of Turkmen–Turkish economic partnership.
