Turkmen Universities Take Part in the International Conference “Lomonosov–2026”

Higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan served as venues for four sections of the 33rd International Scientific Conference for Students, Postgraduates, and Young Scientists “Lomonosov–2026,” organized by Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The large-scale forum is being held from April 10 to 24 across 44 sections at regional venues in the Russian Federation, at Branches of Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and China, as well as at an international platform in Turkmenistan.

On April 11, within the framework of the international conference, three sections were successfully held at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages: “Foreign Languages and Regional Studies,” “Theory, History and Methodology of Translation,” and “Philology.” On the same day, Magtymguly Turkmen State University hosted another section of the forum in the field of “Chemistry.”

The event brought together students, master’s degree candidates, postgraduate students, and young scientists from Turkmenistan, who delivered scientific presentations, showcased the results of innovative research, and presented their academic achievements and practice-oriented proposals.

In particular, at the forum venue at the Azadi Institute, participants discussed such relevant topics as: The development of lexical competence among language students in the context of digital transformation of education; Intensive modular foreign language teaching in technical universities; The role of the translator as a cultural mediator in the development of neural machine translation (NMT) systems; Digital transformation of Russian–Turkmen translation: cognitive and technological aspects; The influence of the Internet and social media on the development of the Russian language; Linguistics and artificial intelligence, and many others.

At the “Chemistry” section held at Magtymguly Turkmen State University, young scientists presented reports on topics such as: The production of hydrophobic materials from industrial waste; The use of local raw materials to obtain environmentally friendly organomineral fertilizers; An innovative method for producing construction chalk and ammonium sulfate from technogenic waste; The study of the potential use of brown coal ash from the Tuarkyr deposit, among others.

During the conference sessions, as well as the round tables included in the program, participants had the opportunity to exchange views and ideas, establish new partnerships, and enrich their scientific experience.

The event is of great importance for the development of scientific and creative potential, the promotion of young scientists’ achievements at the international level, and the strengthening of youth scientific cooperation.

This format of international interaction was first implemented in Turkmenistan last year, when two sections of the “Lomonosov” conference were held at the Azadi Institute.

This year, the international platform of Lomonosov Moscow State University’s forum in Ashgabat has been expanded, demonstrating the strengthening of academic cooperation and the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmen universities and the Russian university.

The annual “Lomonosov” conference is held to foster the creative activity of students, postgraduate students, and young scientists, to involve them in solving pressing issues of modern science, to preserve and develop a unified international scientific and educational space, and to establish contacts among future colleagues.
