Students from Turkmenistan successfully competed in the XII Nordic International Mathematical Olympiad (NCUMC-2026), organised from the 25th to 29th of April by the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO University).
This year, the international competition brought together more than 500 talented students from leading universities in Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, France, and several other countries.

Students from the Engineering and technology university of Turkmenistan named after Oguz han, who participated in the Olympiad under the guidance of Eziz Kakyshov, a lecturer in the department of applied mathematics and computer science, received awards following the competition. The silver medal was won by Gulovser Gylychmammedova, a third-year student majoring in «Applied mathematics and computer science (mathematics for engineers)» at the faculty of computer science and information technology. A bronze medal was awarded to first-year student of the same faculty, Dovletgeldi Shakirjanov, studying in the «Digital infrastructure and cybersecurity» specialty.
Representatives of the International university of oil and gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev, Islam Hayytmuhammedov, a student in the faculty of digital technologies and cybersecurity, and Halmyrat Myratgeldiyev, a student in the faculty of oil and gas, won silver medals at the Olympiad.

Students from the Turkmen state institute of economics and management, the International University of humanities and development, the Turkmen agricultural university named after S.A. Nyyazov, the Institute of engineering, technical and transport communications of Turkmenistan, and the State energy institute of Turkmenistan excelled at the Olympiad and received well-deserved awards.
The achievements of Turkmen students on the international stage are further proof of the effectiveness of state education policy, which is aimed at continuous improvement, the introduction of advanced methods and innovations, the creation of favourable conditions for the comprehensive development of young people, and the training of highly qualified specialists.
