The Day of Constitution and State Flag was observed in Turkmenistan on May 18. Being the symbols of the statehood, the Main Law and green Colour embody unshakeable solidarity of Turkmen people, its invariable commitment to the ideals of peace, humanity and creation.
Turkmen capital was the main place of the events where laying flowers ceremonies to the Monument of Constitution and to the Main Flag of the country took place with the participation of the Head of the State.
Celebration events started early in the morning at the Monument of Constitution. Flying green flag, music and songs, bright colours of flowers and smiles of people gathered at the memorial complex, all of these made exciting atmosphere.
Our fellow citizens treat this holiday with special attitude. It unites and brings up the nation in the spirit of high patriotism inspiring and multiplying creative energy.
The members of the Government, heads of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, Hyakim of Ashgabat, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, elders, representatives of non-governmental organizations, mass media, the guests of the capital and youth were among the participants of the event.
The vehicle of the President arrived in brightly decorated square in front of the Monument of Constitution. Everybody greeted Turkmen leader with enthusiasm. Girls in national dress presented the President with flowers.
The Head of the State followed along the carpet to special place. National anthem song was played.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov laid flower wreath to the Monument of Constitution, which embodies the firmness of the government framework of sovereign Turkmenistan, its democratic principles and centuries-old traditions of the people’s power that received deserving continuation in our days.
After the Head of the State, the members of the Government, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments as well as other participants of the event laid flowers to the Monument of Constitution.
A bit later, thousands of residents and guests of the capital became the participants of the event in the southern part of the capital where 133-meter flagpole, which is one of the highest in the world, with the Main Flag of Turkmenistan is placed.
Located in one of the most beautiful part of Ashgabat on picturesque background of Kopetdag Mountains, green flag is visibly practically from any part of the city. It flies in the sky embodying unbreakable tie of the times and generations, richest history and culture, wise life philosophy of Turkmens, their glorious past, beautiful present and aspire for deserving future.
High flagpoles with green colours built in the velayat centres and Avaza National tourist zone are visual evidence of deep respect of National Flag by our people and worshiping of it as a sacred thing.
The vehicle of the Head of the State arrived to the square in front of the flagpole. The participants greeted Turkmen leader.
The culmination came and President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov laid beautiful flower wreath to the podium of giant flagpole flying magnificently the Main Flag of Turkmenistan.
After the Head of the State, the Chairperson and deputies of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and other participants of the ceremony laid the flowers.
After the ceremony, the Head of the State said warm goodbye to the participants of the event and left the place.
