In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, thanks to the noble initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero-Arkadag, and the tireless efforts of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the national theatrical arts of Turkmenistan continue to develop and reach new heights. Stage productions reflect the triumph of the country’s sacred independence and permanent neutrality, inspiring people to achieve lofty goals. At the same time, all necessary conditions are being created for staging masterpieces of world classical drama in national theaters. These efforts contribute to educating young people in the spirit of patriotism, devotion to national values, and respect for the legacy of their ancestors.

Through theatrical productions, our national heritage, which forms part of the treasury of universal human values, is being promoted around the world. As a result, the international prestige of our national theatrical arts and the reputation of theater professionals continue to grow.

The A.S. Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater took part in the 26th International Theater Festival “Melikhov Spring,” held from May 22 to May 31, 2026. The festival was organized by the A.P. Chekhov State Literary and Memorial Museum-Reserve “Melikhovo” with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Moscow Region of the Russian Federation. The cultural event was dedicated to the work of the renowned Russian writer and playwright Anton Pavlovich Chekhov.

The creative team of the Turkmen theater presented the production “Chekhov’s Vaudevilles,” directed by the young stage director B. Garajayev. The performance was based on the famous writer’s vaudevilles, which seamlessly transition into profound psychological reflections that positively influence the patriotic, spiritual, and moral upbringing of young people. Live music accompanies the performance from beginning to end. The artistic solutions in the production scenography inspire a love of life and celebrate sacred family values passed down from generation to generation.

The participation of the Turkmen theater in this prestigious international festival provided an excellent platform for promoting the nation’s performing arts. The play, performed in Russian by Turkmen actors, received a warm reception from audiences, while the director’s work was highly praised.

More than ten countries participated in the festival, presenting a total of 27 productions. During the event, Turkmen artists attended performances by other countries, took part in discussions of the productions, and participated in workshops for actors and directors. At creative meetings, Turkmen specialists delivered presentations and screened videos showcasing theater productions and circus performances staged in theaters and circuses built during the years of the country’s independence, highlighting their modern facilities and the awards won at prestigious international festivals.

Participants in these creative meetings included representatives of the global theater and film community, cultural figures, playwrights, literary scholars, historians, cultural experts, and poets. They particularly emphasized that the activities of the President of Turkmenistan aimed at developing national arts and strengthening international cultural ties serve as an exemplary model.

At the conclusion of the arts festival, the creative team of the A.S. Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater was awarded the International Theater Festival Cup.

We express our profound gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero-Arkadag, and President Arkadagly Hero Serdar for creating broad opportunities for participation in international theater festivals, for facilitating the exchange of experience with distinguished artists, and for promoting national culture worldwide. We wish them continued success in their important state endeavors for the further prosperity of our independent and neutral Homeland and the well-being of the Turkmen people.
