On June 17–19, 2026, in St. Petersburg, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan D. The event was attended by Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliyev, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, and Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev.
The event was dedicated to current issues of strengthening cultural ties, preserving the common historical and cultural heritage, developing interstate humanitarian dialogue, as well as promoting creative and cultural industries as an important area of modern international cooperation.
The plenary session was devoted to the topic “Interaction of Cultures: Preservation of Heritage and Global Dialogue in the Modern World.” The participants discussed practical approaches to preserving the common historical and cultural heritage and strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between countries in a rapidly changing world.
Special attention in the conference programme was paid to the panel discussion “Intercultural Dialogue: Traditions, Modern Meanings and New Formats of Cooperation.” The participants discussed current trends and prospects for cooperation in the fields of cinematography, theatre, library and museum affairs, musical culture, as well as creative education.
In his speech, Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev noted that, within the framework of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the CIS in 2026, special importance is attached to strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation, preserving historical and cultural heritage, developing interstate dialogue, and promoting modern forms of partnership. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan, guided by its “open doors” policy and its status of permanent neutrality, views culture as a “golden bridge” connecting peoples and strengthening trust, mutual understanding, and respect.
The participation of the delegation of Turkmenistan in this event reflects the country’s consistent commitment to developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among peoples, and supporting joint initiatives within the CIS framework.
The Turkmen side confirmed its interest in further developing mutually beneficial cooperation, expanding cultural exchanges, supporting joint projects, and strengthening professional ties between cultural and educational institutions and creative communities of the participating countries.
