These days, vegetable growers in the Dashoguz velayat are in the midst of the harvest season. Potato harvesting is nearing completion in the fields, while cucumbers and spring-planted carrots are being gathered at a rapid pace. Local farmers expect to harvest at least 2,000 tons of cucumbers. As for carrots, they were planted this spring on 730 hectares of land. Growers expect to harvest around 18 tons per hectare and produce more than 13,000 tons of the crop. It should be noted that carrots are harvested twice a year in the velayat. Forty hectares have already been allocated for autumn planting.
In recent years, the velayat has become one of the country’s major producers of fruit and vegetable crops. To ensure a stable year-round supply of a wide variety of fresh produce to the population, local farmers strive to carefully select the most suitable plots of land and widely introduce high-quality crop varieties that are well adapted for large-scale cultivation under local climatic and weather conditions.
Considerable attention is also given to the efficient use of farmland and water resources, as well as the effective utilization of the extensive fleet of agricultural machinery. Such farming practices help ensure that the consumer market remains well supplied with vitamin-rich produce while maintaining affordable prices for these products.
