The Head of Turkmenistan arrived at the capital’s International Airport for his flight to Tbilisi.
At the airport, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was seen off by state officials.
Currently, friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia are consistently developing based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and trust. Reciprocal visits at the highest and parliamentary levels are clear evidence of this.
In this regard, it is worth noting that the official visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to Turkmenistan in March 2025 marked an important step in strengthening interstate dialogue.
The economic sector is a key area of bilateral partnership. The Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation plays a special role in coordinating efforts in this area. The parties are consistently working to create more favorable conditions for increasing mutual trade, stimulating investment activity, and establishing direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
The transport and logistics sector is of great importance in Turkmen-Georgian cooperation. Turkmenistan and Georgia have extensive port infrastructure on the Caspian and Black Seas, respectively. This opens up opportunities for developing cooperation along such important international routes as the Caspian Sea-Black Sea multimodal corridor and the Lapis Lazuli transport corridor.
An integral part of interstate relations is cultural and humanitarian dialogue, which promotes rapprochement between the two peoples and the mutual enrichment of cultures. Turkmenistan and Georgia are actively developing ties in science, education, and tourism. Particular attention is paid to the widespread promotion of their historical and cultural heritage.
...After flying to Tbilisi, the President of Turkmenistan’s plane landed at Shota Rustaveli International Airport, where the national flags of both countries were raised on flagpoles.
Honor Guards lined the carpet leading from the aircraft’s steps.

From the airport, the head of state’s motorcade proceeded to the Orbeliani Palace of the President of Georgia.

Then, an official welcoming ceremony for the President of Turkmenistan followed.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest and thanking him for accepting the invitation to pay a state visit to Georgia, President Mikheil Kavelashvili expressed confidence that this visit by the President of Turkmenistan will open a new page in the history of interstate relations.
Taking this opportunity, the head of the friendly state also conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Hero-Arkadag.
Expressing gratitude for the invitation to visit Georgia and the hospitality extended, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also conveyed greetings and good wishes from Hero-Arkadag to President Mikheil Kavelashvili. Noting that the current visit coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Turkmen leader congratulated his Georgian counterpart on this significant date.
Emphasizing that our countries constructively cooperate within international organizations, primarily the UN, President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Georgian side for its consistent support of Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent Neutrality and international initiatives.
During the conversation, interparliamentary dialogue was identified as a priority area of bilateral relations. At the same time, trade and economic cooperation is steadily developing.
Noting transport, logistics, communications, and port infrastructure as key areas of cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that our countries support the initiative to create the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor along the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania route. Connections of the Caspian and Black Sea regions opens up enormous opportunities for developing trade, economic, and investment partnerships.
Particular importance is also attached to bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties. In this context, the head of state confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further expand cultural, scientific, educational, and sports cooperation with Georgia.
Expressing confidence that the current visit will be an important step in strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked President Mikheil Kavelashvili for his attention to developing relations with Turkmenistan and invited him to visit our country at his convenience.
Gratefully accepting the invitation, the President of Georgia expressed confidence that fruitful interstate dialogue would continue to develop across a wide range of areas for the benefit of the friendly peoples of both countries.

As part of his visit, President Berdimuhamedov arrived at the Expo Georgia Exhibition Center, becoming the venue for the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum.
There, the head of Turkmenistan was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.

Welcoming President Berdimuhamedov and the forum participants, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze noted that it was a great honor for him to host the head of Turkmenistan in Georgia. It was emphasized that today’s meeting is further tangible confirmation of the successful and dynamic development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, opening up new and extensive opportunities for the private sector and business communities.
The head of the Georgian government also emphasized that many joint ventures and companies with Turkmen capital are currently operating effectively in Georgia in the fields of transportation, logistics, construction, agriculture, and other sectors. This accumulated solid experience serves as a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze wished everyone success, expressing confidence that today’s high-level meeting will serve as a powerful impetus for establishing new partnerships, putting forward specific initiatives, and closer, more fruitful interaction between the businesses of both countries.

Addressing the audience, the head of state noted that the current forum is intended to promote the development of bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Speaking about Turkmenistan’s economic development, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that in early 2026, our country approved an Investment Program, the main goal of which is to maintain gross domestic product growth at 6.3 percent.
Regarding industries, one of the key areas is the further development of the fuel and energy complex.
In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan has begun the fourth stage of industrial development of the Galkynysh gas field, one of the largest in the world.
The development of hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea also remains a key priority, the head of Turkmenistan said, emphasizing that in this regard, our country is consistently developing strategic partnerships with foreign oil and gas companies.
As noted, new capacities have been commissioned in the hydrocarbon processing sector. Finished liquid petroleum products are currently being steadily exported to countries in Asia and Europe.
Having built plants producing mineral fertilizers, polymers, and other chemical products in demand on global markets, Turkmenistan has achieved intensive industrial growth in the gas and chemical industry.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the effective development of the private sector within the national economy. In recent years, large-scale production of construction, metal, plastic, cable, and electrical products has been established.
The volume of finished textile products manufactured in Turkmenistan exceeds 130,000 tons per year. Approximately 80 percent of the total output of the industry is exported.
Thanks to investment and private sector development, agriculture is also increasing its export potential. Turkmenistan is currently a major supplier of organic food products.
Noting the significant potential for the development of transportation, logistics, communications, infrastructure, and the use of sea terminals, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to engage private entrepreneurship in the development of related specialized systems and the use of special opportunities for the transit of goods and services.
“We are negotiating the creation of a cargo terminal for Turkmenistan on the Georgian coast of the Black Sea. I believe that the business communities of both countries should actively participate in the implementation of this project, putting public-private partnerships into practice,” the head of state said.
Turkmenistan is also interested in Georgia’s experience in developing tourism and services.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that this forum is seen as the beginning of a consistent, thoughtful, and concrete dialogue between entrepreneurs of the two countries. Having expressed support for holding similar events in Turkmenistan and Georgia on a regular basis, the head of state wished the forum participants productive interaction and the exchange of useful ideas and experiences.

Then, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze jointly visited a traveling exhibition of products manufactured in Turkmenistan.
A large-scale showcase of the achievements of our country’s economic sectors was organized as part of the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum, designed to give a powerful impetus to the diversification of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, strengthening business contacts, and exploring new formats of interaction.
The participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in the opening ceremony of the exhibition demonstrated its significance and high level.
The head of Turkmenistan and the head of the Georgian government toured the exhibition pavilions together, providing a clear understanding of the multifaceted potential of the Turkmen economy. The high interest shown in this exhibition serves as tangible confirmation of the mutual commitment of both parties to deepening productive cooperation and the practical realization of the enormous existing potential.
The ministries and industry departments of our country set up their pavilions at the Expo Georgia venue. These included the ministries of textile industry, industry and construction, energy, construction and architecture, healthcare and medical industry, and culture.
The active participation of members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in this exhibition confirmed their readiness to enter the Georgian and European markets.
The exhibits on display testify to the dynamic pace of industrialization in Turkmenistan, the successful implementation of state programs for import substitution and increasing export potential.
The exhibition confirmed the success of Turkmenistan’s foreign economic policy, consistently implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and aimed at stimulating effective cooperation with all interested foreign partners. The large-scale exhibition organized in Tbilisi not only showcased our country’s export potential but also served as an open platform for reaching new mutually beneficial agreements, establishing joint ventures, and increasing trade between the two friendly countries.
Following the exhibition tour, an official reception was held in honor of the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of the Prime Minister of Georgia.
