The third day of play for the Turkmenistan team at the 46^th World chess olympiad, which is ongoing in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, turned out to be successful. The men's team crushed the 120th-seeded Mozambique team 4-0, while the women's team beat their opponents from Suriname (ranked 105th) 3-1.

In the men's team, success was achieved by international grandmasters Saparmyrat Atabayev (1^st board, rating 2503), Meylis Annaberdiyev (2^nd board, 2384), FIDE master Amanmuhammet Hommadov (3^rd board, 2389) and Vepaly Halynyyazov (4^th board, 2257). They won, respectively, against FIDE Masters Ivan Andrade (1^st board, rating 2165), Donaldo Paiva (2^nd board, 2202), FIDE Candidate Master Hamid Harmon Gulamo Jamal (3^rd board, 2067), and Wilton Inacio Kalikoki (4^th board, 1953).

In the women's team, victories were achieved by FIDE Women's Candidate Master Leyla Shohradova (2^nd board, rating 2101) and Ogulsuray Bayrambayeva (4^th board, 1952), who defeated, respectively, FIDE Women's Candidate Master Victoria Kaslan (2^nd board, 1797) and Shefali Kribsburg (4^th board, 1607). FIDE Master Lala Shohradova (1^st board, 2147) and Myahri Agamuradova (3^rd board, 1939) drew with FIDE Candidate Master Eliza Wu (1^st board, 1927) and FIDE Master Katherine Kaslan (3^rd board, 1866), respectively.

The men's team of Turkmenistan, seeded 65^th with an average rating of 2383, crushed the team of East Timor (seeded 168^th) in the first round - 4:0, and in the second lost with a score of 1:3 to the strong team of Serbia, seeded 15th, which consists exclusively of international grandmasters - Aleksey Sarana (1^st board, 2666), Aleksandar Predke (2^nd board, 2598), Velimir Ivic (3^rd board, 2601) and Bojan Maksimovic (4^th board, 2534). After three rounds, the team of Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan Serdar Annaberdiyev, with 4 points, shares 54^th-55^th place with the chess players from the Philippines among 206 teams in the open tournament.

The women's team of Turkmenistan (55^th seed, average rating 2057), led by captain Mergen Kakabayev, also convincingly beat the representatives of Liechtenstein (151^st seed) in the first round – 4:0, and in the second round they lost to the 9^th-seeded team Poland – 1:3. It is noteworthy that the only point for our team was scored by Mahri Agamyradova, who played on the fourth board, sensationally defeating grandmaster Alicja Slivitska (2324). After three rounds, the Turkmen chess players are in 55^th place among 190 teams with 4 points.

In the next, 4^th round, the men's team of Turkmenistan will play against the team of Sudan (102^nd place in the ranking), which lost the day before to the chess players of Argentina (24^th place in the ranking) with a crushing score of 0:4. The women's team will face off against their opponents from Jordan (seeded 90^th), who won the previous round against the Togolese chess players (ranked 139^th) 3-1.
