Bayram Velkhanov, a lecturer at the Department of Industrial Ecology of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Ecology at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, is undertaking a master’s degree program at the University of Tsukuba in Japan.
The training is being conducted from September 12, 2026, to March 31, 2029, as part of the JICA Development Studies Program “SDGs Global Leader,” implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The study visit is being carried out on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding on joint research in the field of hydrogen energy, signed on April 7, 2025, between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba (Japan).
Together with scientists and specialists from the University of Tsukuba, the Turkmen university lecturer will conduct research on producing hydrogen energy from natural gas and developing sustainable development systems.
In addition, the lecturer will study Japan’s extensive experience in environmental protection, sustainable energy, and clean technologies, as well as participate in theoretical and practical classes in the relevant fields.
The valuable knowledge and experience that the representative of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University will gain at one of the world’s leading academic and research centers, as well as the scientific research he will conduct, will make a significant contribution to the development of sustainable energy systems and the introduction of innovative technologies into our country’s oil and gas sector.
Earlier, we reported that two lecturers from the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan had been sent to the University of Tsukuba in Japan to pursue studies in the corresponding master’s degree program.
