In the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan, a 44-kilometre section of the Garabogaz-border zone highway was opened, becoming part of the important international transport route Turkmenbashy-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced this during the ceremonial events.

The new road transport infrastructure is an integral part of the major international «North-South» corridor. The head of state emphasised that the commissioning of this section will significantly strengthen transit links of the region.

«Last year, the foundation was laid for the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway. And today we are putting into operation its 44-kilometre section Garabogaz-border zone. This road transport infrastructure, which is part of the international North-South transport corridor, will become a key link in internationally significant transport routes», – said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The implementation of the project is the result of the consistent implementation of long-term national strategies: the Program for the Socioeconomic Development of the Country for 2022–2028 and the National Program «Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state: National Program for the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052».
