Turkmen leader to visit Italy in November 6 – 7

Official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Italy, by outcomes of which it is planned to sign big number of documents of intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels as well as in private sector, which would significantly supplement regulatory and legal framework base of cooperation and would serve to its expansion in many directions, will take place on November 6 – 7.

Diplomatic relations between our countries were established in 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Italy to Turkmenistan was opened in 2013 and the Embassy of Turkmenistan to Italy in 2016.

Special role in development of beneficial Turkmen – Italian relations is given to visits and high-level meetings. In this context, the first official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Italy was an important event in the history of interstate dialog.

Working visit of leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Italy in May 2015 supported further intensification of beneficial Turkmen – Italian relations, earlier, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy came to Turkmenistan on working visit in November 2014.

Bilateral relations has dynamic character of the level of the Governments and foreign departments. Italy regularly support creative initiatives of Turkmen side proposed at the sessions of the UN General Assembly and other big international forums.

There are wide perspectives for activation of Turkmen – Italian cooperation in trade and economic sphere. Efficient partnership with Italian business circles is carried out in oil, gas and textile industries and other fields.

Big industrial and infrastructural facilities in our country are provided with modern Italian equipment. At the same time, transport and communication spheres, agriculture, food and light industry, innovative technologies are among important directions of investment cooperation.

Humanitarian field, which has significant potential for expansion of traditional cooperation in education, science and culture, are an integral part of interstate relations. At present time, Turkmen State University and International University of Humanitarian Studies and Development teach Italian language with participation of tutors from this country.

There are big opportunities in joint archaeological works where successful practice of work has been gained, in intensification of the contacts in museum activity and ethnography.

Therefore, high-level Turkmen – Italian talks next week will specify vectors of diversification of the partnership.
