President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired the first in the new year meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, during which the important domestic and foreign policy issues and draft documents were considered.
The Vice Premiers presented the reports. It was reported on the preparations for the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan to sum up the results of the year of 2013. It was also reported on the work done to introduce the world largest banking card system - MasterCard serving approximately 22,000 member financial institutions in 210 countries worldwide. The system will promote optimizing the settlements and payments as well as the electronic banking services rendered to the citizens of our country as well as our foreign guests. It will also allow the banking institutions in Turkmenistan to accumulate the relevant experience that will be highly demanded given that Ashgabat will host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017.
The Vice Premiers reported on the outcomes of the Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Kiev.
It was reported on the progress of construction works and agricultural campaigns, including the preparations for the cotton sowing campaign.
The Vice Premiers reported on the progress in implementing the Programme of Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan till 2030. It was noted that 57 new industrial and social facilities were put into operation at the fuel and energy complex of the country last year and the large-scale infrastructural projects are successfully implemented at present. The large complex of plants on the commercial-grade gas production was put into operation within the framework of the industrial development of the Galkynysh gas deposit. The project on construction of the East-west gas pipeline is successfully continued.
The ministries and core departments of the spheres of science, education, healthcare, sports and tourism summed up the work done in 2013 and drafted the working plans for 2014.
The Vice Premiers informed the Turkmen leader on the Programme of the cultural events and ceremonies of opening of new social and cultural facilities scheduled for January.
Addressing the Cabinet Ministers, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the last year was rich in remarkable events of the international and domestic life of our state. "In 2013 we fulfilled the most part of the tasks set to us. The policy of neutrality, friendship and good neighborliness pursued by Turkmenistan at present provides good results guaranteeing the happy life for the Turkmen people. Those results are clearly observed within the joint large-scale projects. Implementation of these international projects brings profits to our country, which are used to ensure the social protection of the population", noted the Turkmen leader in his address.
Summing up the reports presented during the meeting, the President instructed the relevant officials to prepare thoroughly for the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
Other domestic policy issues were considered during the government meeting and the decisions were adopted.
