The news that their etrap has won the competition for the best etrap of the country in the achievement of high socio-economic development indices for 2013 has greatly gladdened resident of Ak bugday etrap. For the title of the best etrap of the country, it has been awarded the prize at the amount of 1 million US dollars.
…the famous historian G.Pugachenkova supposed that Anev is the Parthian military camp of Ghatar mentioned in the travelogue of Isodore Kharax. The settlement was famous for its fort in the feudal period -IX-X centuries and only in the XIII centuries after the walls of the fort were destroyed due to the attacks of the horde of Chengiz khan it met its downfall. A century later life in this land again regained its pervious course. After the crisis, which covered the country in the mid XVIII, century here emerged a settlement under the name Anau. The name of the settlement was drawn from the word «Аbi-nau» - «A new settlement».
A century passed and today etrap Ak bugday as an administrative and territorial unit of Turkmenistan occupies a strategically important geographical position. Its economic potential is also great. Today unprecedented rate of achievements and modernization have taken up the entire region bringing a new impulse, new life standards in the remote rural areas creating all conditions for development of standard of wellbeing, enhancement of cultural level of rural population. A new model settlement with modern infrastructure is being built. For the past years, the amount of housing has remarkably grown in the etrap. In compliance with the national program for 2008-2013, residents of Ak bugday have got housing more than 128 000 square meters. 46 000 square meters of them have been constructed at the expense of the state capital financing and 8,57 000 square meters at the expense of mortgage credit for 30 years.
This fertile piedmont of the Kopetdagh is a historical land of whit wheat. Such notions, which were introduced yet in the early past century by Rafael Pompelli as «Anev civilization and white wheat of Anev», have become evidence of achievement of the Turkmen nation. It is here – in the administrative center of the etrap of Anev city – an only museum of white wheat in the world is located. The national museum of Turkmenistan «Ak bugday» has become a visual symbol of talent and diligence of the Turkmen nation, its unchangeable devotion to its sacred traditions going back to the depth of millenniums. And descendants of first cultivators –present grain growers continue the glorious traditions of their ancestors. In 2013 residents of Ak bugday grew over 70,5 000 tons of grain to instead of the order of the state 60,4 000 tons and fulfilled the production plan by 116,8 %. Achievements of cotton growers of Akhal also amaze. In the past year they were one of the first in the velayat to report on fulfilment of the state production plan yielding almost 30, 5 000 tons of raw cotton overfulfilling the state production plan by more than 20%.
Workers of industrial enterprises also make a great contribution to the achievements of the etrap. The flagman of the industrial sphere of the etrap is the Akhal gas turbine power state. In the past year, the power station received three more new power-generating units with a capacity of 141, 7 megawatts. Thus, the total capacity of the power station has made up almost 400 megawatts. The power station provides not only the etrap but also the capital as well as the regions of the country with power energy.
The system of health care of the etrap has also been improved notably and the units of the central hospital of the etrap and its branch establishments have undergone capital reconstruction and there is its diagnostic and consultative centre, the centre of first aid, there have been also built houses of health in rural areas and the system of maternity and child health care is also developed in the region. In 2013 3252 children were born in the etrap and it is 30 babies more than the previous year birth rate.
In the etrap the culture centre and 6 culture centres in rural areas, a central library and its branch offices and two children’s schools of art function today. Several of workers of art have become winners of the state art competitions among workers of art, culture, literature. A singer of the etrap culture centre has become winner of the art competition “The Star of the Year- 2013”.
The movement of sports and physical training assumed a more importance and development in the etrap in 2013. In the city of Anev there was constructed a sports complex with a stadium for 3000 places meeting the latest standards. In the last year there was also built a new sports school which is provided with the modern facilities for training and organizing competitions in various sports. All the educational and preschool establishments built in the past years possess modern gyms, sports halls, basketball and volleyball fields, tennis courts and others.
