President of Turkmenistan attends the opening ceremony of the new Memorial complex

In accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the Memorial Day was observed in all regions of the country on October 6. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony of laying flowers to the Halk Hakydasy memorial complex that was built in the capital of Turkmenistan - Ashgabat in commemoration of our heroes who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Geoktepe and on the battlefields of the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War as well as in memory of our compatriots who died in the terrible Ashgabat earthquake in 1948.

Early in the morning, thousands of local citizens and guests to the Turkmen capital came to the new memorial complex to take part in the opening ceremony.



The cabinet ministers, the heads and deputies of the national parliament, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, public organisations, as well as Khyakims of Velayats and Ashgabat, and the elders gathered together at the square in front of the memorial complex. The ceremony participants included the heads of diplomatic representations and missions accredited to Turkmenistan, and foreign guests.

The President headed to the magnificent monument Ruhy Tagzym to pay tribute to all victims of the disastrous Ashgabat earthquake. Then the Turkmen leader laid flowers to the the monument Baky şöhrat to those fallen in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War and to the monument Milletiň ogullary that was built in commemoration of the heroes of other battles for the Motherland.

Following the Turkmen leader, cabinet ministers, heads of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, public organisations, foreign diplomats, local citizens and guests to Ashgabat laid flowers to the monuments.



After the ceremony of laying flowers, the President headed to the museum, where the Turkmen leader got acquainted with the expositions showcased in the Ýer titreme muzeýi and Sowes muzeýi halls.

Then the President of Turkmenistan and all participants of the ceremony headed to the building where a commemorative sadaqa was given. Before taking part in the commemorative meal, the ceremony participants offered up the prayers for the peace of the souls of victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake and all those who had sacrificed their lives for freedom of the Motherland, for peace and cohesion, prosperity and wellbeing of the native land.

The commemorative sadaqas were given and the prayers were offered in all cities and settlements in Turkmenistan.
