A new building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Minsk

The second day of the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Belarus was marked by the particularly symbolic participation of the leaders of the two friendly countries in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the new building complex of the diplomatic mission of our country in the capital of Belarus.

The participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Aleksander Lukashenko added solemnity to the ceremony, which was attended by the members of the government of the two countries, the heads of foreign diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in the Republic of Belarus and media representatives.

The guests of honour included Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev and foreign ministers of a number of states, who were visiting Minsk these days.

Expressing profound gratitude to the Belarusian side for enthusiastically responding to the proposal for the construction of the new embassy building and allocating a special area for construction, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that this momentous event symbolized the importance that Turkmenistan attached to relations with the Republic of Belarus.


President of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko focused on the deep symbolism and great importance of the event that served as another evidence for the mutual interest of the Republic of Belarus and Turkmenistan in the further progressive development of mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation and an expression of good will of the peoples of the two countries to strengthen the indissoluble ties of friendship and brotherhood.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Aleksander Lukashenko signed a message and put it into the container. They rose it up as another symbol of Turkmen-Belarusian friendship.

To the applause of those present, the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus threw the container and the first shovels of concrete into the foundation pit of the future Embassy building, thus initiating the construction of the new building complex of the diplomatic mission of our country in Minsk.


On the same day, the President of Turkmenistan laid flowers at the Victory Monument located in the Victory Square. The motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan headed to the Belarusian Great Patriotic War Museum. The Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov accompanied by the members of the Turkmen official delegation visited the museum to see the expositions.

The President of Turkmenistan visited the Chizhovka Arena multifunctional complex, where the commodity fairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus were arranged.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich greeted the President of Turkmenistan on the square in front of the multifunctional complex decorated with the flags of the two countries.


The aim of the commodity fair is to strengthen interstate trade and economic relations, establish new business contacts and implement promising joint business projects. This forum is a unique opportunity to study the experience and the achievements of both Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus.

A wide range of commodities manufactured in Turkmenistan today displayed at the fair showcased the achievements of nearly all the sectors of dynamically developing Turkmen economy.

The Turkmen leader visited the expositions to see the potential of each sector and the opportunities to establish close and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Before leaving the exposition complex, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that our country attached great importance to the promotion of all-round cooperation with the Republic of Belarus and expressed belief that the commodity fair of Turkmenistan in Minsk would give a new impetus to implement joint projects and exchange experiences and advanced technologies.


Commenting on the commodity fair of Turkmenistan, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich focused on the wide range and high quality of commodities, noting that “this evidences the conscientious attitude of producers as well as great export prospects of enterprises in Turkmenistan”.

An official reception was given on behalf of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko in honour of the leaders of the CIS states at the Palace of Independence on that day.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will participate in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of States tomorrow. Its agenda will cover the issues of further cooperation within the Commonwealth.
