An enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the work done in the sectors of the national economy in January-September of the current year and other domestic policy issues and the drafts of important documents were considered.

The representatives of Mejlis, the hyakims of velayat, etraps and towns, the rectors of higher educational institutions, the editors-in-chief of newspapers and journals and other high-ranking officials were invited to attend the government meeting.

The Turkmen leader began the meeting with appointing the high-ranking officials and signing the relevant documents.

The Turkmen leader informed of his decision to appoint G. Myradov as Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan. M. Abilov was appointed as Executive Secretary of the Elders’ Council of Turkmenistan.

The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers presented the reports on the development of the national economy in January-September of the current year.

GDP growth rate was maintained in the reporting period. Production growth rate increased to 135 per cent in January-September of the current year as compared with the same period in 2013.

In January-September, retail trade increased by 17.3 per cent. The indicators achieved in the third quarter of 2014 illustrated an increase in foreign trade.

Winter wheat was sown in the fields throughout the country at 89.5 per cent; this important agricultural campaign was nearing completion. As of October 13, 775,000 tons of cotton was harvested, the plan was fulfilled at 74 per cent.

The volume of construction work performed in January-September of the current year rose by 17.3 per cent as compared with the same period in 2013.

In January-September, the revenues of the State budget made 119.2 per cent and the expenditures – 96.7 per cent. Salaries, pensions, state benefit payments and student scholarships were paid off in full.

The report on the preparations for the meeting of the Elders’ Council, which will be held in the administrative centre of Lebap Velayat on October 20, was presented.

It was noted that in January-September production growth rate of oil and gas condensate made 102.2 per cent, natural and associated gas – 110.7 per cent, ‘blue fuel’ exports to foreign countries – to 111.9 per cent.

The velayat hyakims presented the reports on the main social and economic development indicators of the regions, including the performance indicators in a number of economic sectors and the results of financial and economic activities for the nine months of the current year.

It was reported that the preparations for the opening of Bereket-Etrek railway were underway.

Other issues were considered and the decisions were taken at the government meeting.
