The President of Turkmenistan issued the Decree on the presentation of state awards and the conferment of honorary titles in honour of the 23rd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.
The Decree states that the remarkable achievements have been gained in all sectors of the national economy, in the spheres of science, education, culture and healthcare as well as in strengthening the foundations of a democratic, legal and secular state, building a harmoniously developing civil society, enhancing the international prestige of neutral Turkmenistan and promoting and widening friendly and mutually beneficial relations with nations and states of the world.
The preamble to the Decree says: “Every citizen of our country, making a significant contribution to the social and economic development of independent Turkmenistan, the successful implementation of the ambitious programmes of national importance aimed at upholding the interests of the people, improving the welfare of citizens and enhancing the prestige of the country on the world arena, is worthy of the deepest respect and honour.”
In accordance with the Decree the highest state awards – orders, medals and honorary titles – were presented to a group of citizens. Workers of industries, specialists of ministries and agencies, organisations and institutions, artists and researchers received the awards for their outstanding achievements in strengthening the sovereignty, independence and international prestige of Turkmenistan, intensifying international cooperation, enhancing the economic strength of the Turkmen state and promoting culture and art, science and technology and many other spheres.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan the high-ranking officials of law enforcement and military agencies received the state awards for their profound contribution to strengthening the independence and sovereignty, enhancing the defence capability of neutral Turkmenistan, ensuring security, the rule of law, law and order, their excellent long-term service to the Fatherland, meritorious service to the state and the people and outstanding achievements in state affairs as well as in honour of the 23rd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.
Medals were awarded to military servants and officers of law enforcement and military agencies for their outstanding achievements.
