Citizens of Turkmenistan celebrated the 23rd anniversary of sacred independence of the Motherland. The celebrations in honour of this remarkable date were held throughout the country.
The festively decorated main square of Ashgabat greeted the participants in the Independence Day celebrations. The cabinet ministers, heads of Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, hyakims of velayats and Ashgabat, heads of diplomatic missions and representations accredited in our country and ambassadors of Turkmenistan in foreign countries took their seats on the tribune. Heads of major public organisations, the honorary elders and numerous guests, who arrived in Ashgabat from all over Turkmenistan and foreign countries, were among those who gathered together on the main city square.
The clock stroke 10.00. President of Turkmenistan appeared on the tribune. All those present greeted the leader of Turkmenistan with great enthusiasm.
The Independence Day celebrations began with the military parade that demonstrated once again the high level of training and professionalism of Turkmen warriors, who maintain the traditions of their glorious ancestors in a worthy manner and vigilantly stand guard over the achievements of sacred independence, the peace and cohesion in the native land and the prosperous and constructive life of the people.
The finale of the festive parade was an inspired performance of the combined military orchestra of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan. Musicians presented their creative present for the anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.
Dzhigits dressed in traditional national costumes appeared on the square. The parade of horsemen riding majestic Ahalteke horses symbolized resolute steps that the Turkmen state was taking on the path of independence. A column of majestic Ahalteke horses in gorgeous harness led by a dzhigits on the white horse, who was carrying the green flag in his hands, embodied the ‘cavalry’ of glory of the years that had passed under the banner of independence and replenished the historical chronicle of the nation with many great achievements and landmark accomplishments.
Two dzhigits brought a graceful Ahalteke horse in national harness jewellery on the square. This beautiful horse was presented to the leader of the Turkmen state in token of profound sincere gratitude of all citizens of Turkmenistan for his titanic efforts for the welfare and happiness of the Fatherland and on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.
The celebrations in honour of the 23rd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan brought together millions of people: our compatriots in different towns and villages of the country could watch in real-time the celebrations in Ashgabat taking place on the main square of our country.
The column representing all the five regions of our country appeared on the square. A bright theatrical and musical performance was presented in front of the tribune; the immortal lines created by Magtymguly Fraghi were recited inspiredly; artists of the dance ensembles from the regions of Turkmenistan followed one another, creating colourful ornamental ‘pictures’ in their chorographic performances.
The columns with the honorary elders, deputies of Mejlis and representatives of major public organisations of Turkmenistan in the first ranks appeared on the square. They carried the flags of independent neutral Turkmenistan in their hands; hundreds of colourful balloons soared skyward.
The column of sportsmen marched in front of the square. They included masters of sports, winners and prize winners of national and international tournaments, their experienced coaches and mentors.
Then the models of the well-known monuments of Merv and Kunya Urgench ‘sailed’ out to the square. They served as the background for a theatrical performance about the arrival of a trade caravan from remote countries. Turkmenistan that has ample opportunities to develop all types of tourism, is gaining reputation as a new international tourist destination.
The column of specialists of economic institutions and departments followed specialists of Turkmenistan’s tourism industry. All the sectors of Turkmen economy celebrated the 23rd anniversary of independence with remarkable labour achievements. Representatives of the creative professions, cultural workers and specialists of cultural institutions appeared on the square in the final part of the parade.
The Independence Day celebrations, which took place on the main square of the country, concluded with the song dedicated to the epoch of might and happiness, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Motherland and independence. After the parade in honour of the 23rd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a series of meetings with top managers of a number of foreign companies operating in Turkmenistan.
