President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the festivities on occasion of the Day of Independence of Turkmenistan taken place at the International Equestrian Sports Complex.
The cabinet ministers, Chairperson of the Mejlis, the heads of ministries and departments, military and law-enforcement agencies, Khyakims of the regions and the Turkmen capital, heads of the diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in our country, ambassadors of Turkmenistan in foreign states, representatives of public organisations, journalists, local citizens and guests to the Turkmen capital gathered together at the complex located in the picturesque corner at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. Among the guests to the celebrations were numerous visitors, who had arrived in our country to take part in the Independence Day festivities, participants of the XVII Conference of the World Turkmens, foreign businessmen working in Turkmenistan as well as representatives of all regions of our country.
Cordially greeting all those present, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov entered the territory of the festively decorated complex, where a real Turkmen toy with all attributes of the national holiday was arranged. A bright performance with the participation of Turkmen athletes who were demonstrating their sportsmanship presented many joyful moments to the audience. It is impossible to imagine a Turkmen holiday without bagshi songs and melodies of dutar. The best song, dance and folk groups from all regions of the country performed a rich cultural programme. The improvised festival of folk and national traditions aroused a keen interest among the guests to Turkmenistan.
The fascinating fights of Turkmen goresh wrestlers attracted many spectators. The Turkmen leader watched the wrestling and participated in the ceremony of awarding the winners of the contests.

Then the Turkmen leader headed to the Presidential lounge. The words of the deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for his versatile activity in the name of the spiritual revival and prosperity of the Fatherland as well as congratulations on the 23d anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan were presented during the ceremony. It was also announced that the Galkynysh group of national equestrian games of the President of Turkmenistan Ahalteke Horse Complex had achieved success at the XVI International Circus Festival, which was held in Italy. The Gold Cup Latina 2014 and the prizes of the festivals Di Albacete, Consegna del Premio, Comune Di Latina and a diploma of the Ahalteke Association of Italy were awarded to Galkynysh group to the storm of applause of all participants of the celebrations.
Then the horse races with the participation of senior jockeys-trainers started. Beautiful Ahalteke horses competed in seven rounds.
In the seventh round four-year-old horses competed in the 2,800 meter races for the prize of the President of Turkmenistan. B. Agamuradov riding Dalbedeve demonstrated the best result – 3 minutes 15.3 seconds.
Car keys were awarded to the first-prize winners. The Turkmen leader congratulated the winners and wished them to be the worthy successors of the unique art that had won the worldwide glory and contribute to the development of the equestrian sports and training jockeys, who would be able to represent our country at the international arena.
