President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, who arrived in our country on the first official visit, held the talks in Ashgabat.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan held the one-on-one talks in the Golden Hall of Oguzhan Presidential Palace. The top-level talks focused on cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and communications sectors and the enhancement of humanitarian contacts. The leader of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international politics.
The talks continued in Gorkut Ata Hall with the participation of the government delegations of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
After the government talks had concluded, the ceremony of signing bilateral documents took place in Seljuk Han Hall in the presence of the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of International Relations of MFA of Turkmenistan and K. Dikambaev Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Agreement on Cooperation between the State Committee for Sport of Turkmenistan and the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan and the State Financial Intelligence Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic were signed. The sides also signed the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance on Tax Compliance between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Agreement on the Establishment of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Kyrgyzstan Commission on trade and economic, scientific and technical and cultural cooperation.

Then the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic held a press conference in Bairam Han Hall.
The Turkmen leader said that the talks had focused on the water and energy issues in Central Asia that Turkmenistan addressed through compliance with the universally recognized standards of international law, mutual respect and consideration for the interests of all states in the region as well as involvement of international organisations. The President of Turkmenistan noted that the sides had reached an agreement to coordinate efforts to struggle against extremism, transnational organized crime and drug trafficking. Touching upon energy cooperation, the Turkmen leader said that the sides had agreed to promote the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China pipeline project. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in building transport transit corridors and developing logistics infrastructure the east-west direction.
The Turkmen leader focused with satisfaction on the coincidence of views of the two states on global energy security issues and the support of Kyrgyzstan for Turkmenistan’s initiatives on sustainable energy and energy security. The President of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the commitment to diversifying hydrocarbon exports and considering the issues related to electricity exports.
Addressing journalists, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev said that the signing of joint documents would make it possible to build up trade and economic contacts. The establishment of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Kyrgyzstan Commission will contribute to intensification of partnership.
Noting with satisfaction that the sides had agreed to explore the opportunities for energy exports, including Turkmenistan’s electricity, to Kyrgyzstan, President Atambayev expressed his gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the readiness to supply 700 million KWh to Kyrgyzstan today. The distinguished guest expressed belief that electricity exports would grow in the future.
Expressing his admiration for the successful completion of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway project, President Almazbek Atambayev said that the experience of Turkmen railway workers, who had built the longest section of this route, would be used to build steel roads in Kyrgyzstan in the future. The leader of Kyrgyzstan expressed his support for Turkmenistan’s international initiatives on stable and reliable transit of energy. The distinguished guest also emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the transport sector.
In the afternoon, the two leaders visited the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex, where the exercising of elite Ahalteke horses was organized and the dzhigits from the Galkynysh group displayed their masterly performance. The President of the Kyrgyz Republic visited Kipchak, where he paid tribute to the first president of Turkmenistan, laid flowers at the Mausoleum and visited the Turkmenbashi Mosque of Spirituality.
Then the motorcade of the leader of the Kyrgyz Republic headed to the Monument of Independence of Turkmenistan. President Almazbek Atambayev laid a wreath at the monument. Following the tradition, the Kyrgyz leader planted a young tree on the Alley of Guests of Honour in the Park of Independence.
In the evening, the President of Turkmenistan gave an official reception in honour of the distinguished guest, during which the two leaders exchanged speeches. After the official reception had concluded, the Kyrgyz leader headed to the Ashgabat international airport and left for Bishkek.
