President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the International Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2014" and the 19th conference "International Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan: Potential, Achievements, Priorities".
Speaking about the importance of the International exhibition and conference taken place in Ashgabat, it was noted that given the unprecedented grow of the export potential of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan, strengthening of the international partnership in this area would contribute to achieving the global goals of the third millennium. In this regard, the Turkmen state strives for the maximum use of all available hydrocarbon resources to develop the national economy and in the interest of the whole region.
The President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan highly evaluated the initiative on establishment of an international expert group under the auspices of the United Nations Organisation put forward by Turkmenistan. The main goal of the group will be development of a new international and legal mechanism aimed at guaranteeing the reliable and stable supplies of energy resources to the world markets. An important step towards its implementation that is also of particular interest for Azerbaijan will the first meeting of the expert group in Ashgabat this December.
In conclusion of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest exchanged the best wishes and expressed the belief in the successful continuation of the dynamically developing cooperation, which was built on the equal, mutually beneficial basis.
