Ambassador of Portugal accredited in Turkmenistan

On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva received letters of credence from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic in Turkmenistan Mr. Jorge Tito de Vasconcelos Nogueira Dias Cabral.

On behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva congratulated the distinguished guest on the beginning of the diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan and wished him great success in strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two states and peoples.

Thanking for the kind words, the diplomat conveyed the best wishes to the Turkmen leader and the further progress and prosperity to the people of Turkmenistan on behalf of President of the Portuguese Republic Aníbal António Cavaco Silva.

The plenipotentiary representative of the Portuguese Republic underlined that his country highly evaluated the achievements of our country and emphasized the importance of taking every effort to enhance the cooperation between our states.

The plenipotentiary representative of the friendly country was briefed on key priorities of the internal and foreign policy of Turkmenistan and the society oriented policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in particular ongoing ambitious projects and programmes aimed at further improving the standard of living of Turkmen citizens. The diplomat was also informed of the organizational structure and legislative activities of Turkmen Parliament.

An exchange of views on the prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Portuguese Republic spotlighted its priority fields, such as the energy, textile industry, the sphere of high technologies and other sectors.

During the visit to Ashgabat the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic in Turkmenistan was received at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
