President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considered the projects of the Olympic Village and other important facilities in the building of Ashgabat stadium.
The layout of the Olympic Village and the draft designs of buildings and facilities to be built at the 2nd construction stage, including an indoor swimming pool with stands for 5,000 spectators, an indoor athletic arena with stands for 5,000 spectators and an indoor tennis court with stands for 4,000 spectators, were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
The Olympic Village, the project of which is implemented in three phases, will include over 30 sports facilities. They will open the doors to citizens of Turkmenistan and guests of our country in 2017.
Dwelling upon the construction of the Olympic stadium with stands for 45,000 spectators, the Turkmen leader focused on the need to accelerate ongoing construction work and hold cultural and sporting events at the stadium in order to test its operational functionalities.
Talking to the high-ranking officials, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dwelt on the preparations for the 2017 Asian Games opening ceremony, instructing them to ensure the high level of organisation of the ceremony.
The President thoroughly considered the construction projects developed by the Turkish company Polimeks and provided some suggestions and recommendations to Turkish partners.
Also, the President considered a number of construction projects to be implemented in the Avaza national tourism zone. The project of the Congress Palace, which will be the venue for exhibitions, conferences and other major forums and cultural events, was presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considered the projects of airport facilities to be built in Ashgabat.
Expressing deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for giving credence to Polimeks, the top manager of the Turkish company assured the President of Turkmenistan that all his suggestions and recommendations would be taken into consideration.
The President dwelt on the issues relating to the development and beatification of the capital city and modernization of urban infrastructure. Then the Turkmen leader held a working meeting in the building of Ashgabat stadium to discuss the preparations for a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which the Turkmen capital will be hosting in 2017. The high-ranking officials of the ministries and departments concerned and media representatives participated in the meeting.
Then the Turkmen leader held training sessions in volleyball, basketball, bowling and table tennis in the building of Ashgabat stadium together with the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and the heads of Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov demonstrated excellent physical condition during the sessions.
Then the President visited tennis courts under construction in the neighbourhood of Ashgabat stadium. The Turkmen leader said that modern tennis courts would replenish sports facilities under construction in this part of the city. Biding farewell to all those present, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished them every success in fulfilling the tasks and left the venue.
