The ceremony of signing the Memorandum between the Organizing Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the Olympic Council of Asia and the Oceania National Olympic Committees took place in Ashgabat.
The ceremony was held at the Oguzkent Hotel. President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the V Asian Games Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and President of the Oceania National Olympic Committees Robin Mitchell put their signatures to the document.
According to the document, 17 Oceania National Olympic Committees will participate in the Asian Games for the first time in 2017, together with 45 National Olympic Committees, members of the OCA.
The programme of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in 2017, included 19 sports. In his speech before the signing ceremony, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov suggested including two other sports - horse riding (show jumping) and Turkmen national wrestling goresh - in the programme.
