Commenting on the outcomes of the Turkmen-Kazakh top level meeting, the President of Turkmenistan said that it focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and the issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest and allowed specifying the areas for further cooperation. The Turkmen leader emphasized the effectiveness and concreteness of the talks held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, which is typical of the interstate dialogue.
The Turkmen leader said that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan serves today as an essential factor of stability and positive development in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea Basin. The two countries sought to transform our region into a zone free from conflicts, a firm link of long-term stability on the continent and an arena of broad international cooperation. The talks spotlighted the similarity of views of the two countries on the urgent issues on the global agenda, such as the preservation and maintenance of global peace and stability, countering threats of international terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking and disarmament.
The sides agreed to consider in detail the measures to increase bilateral trade and promote the investment policy so as to implement joint ambitious projects in industrial cooperation, services and agricultural sectors. In this regard, a critical role is assigned to partnership between business circles of the two countries.
The sides agreed to further promote and encourage wide contacts between the two countries in the spheres of culture, science, education and sports.
Emphasizing the importance of the documents aimed at enhancing and broadening partnership between the two countries, including the Agreement between the Balkan Velayat Hyakimlik and the Mangistau Region Akimat on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation signed during the Ashgabat summit, President Nursultan Nazarbayev focused on the advisability of concluding similar agreements between other regions of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. The Kazakh leader said that they would give an important impetus to intensify interstate partnership.
