President of Turkmenistan conducts a videoconference meeting

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference meeting with the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and the hyakims of the regions and Ashgabat. The meeting agenda focused on the key activities of a number of economic sectors, including the progress in implementing the social and economic development programmes.

Reporting on the work done by the Ministry of Foreign Activities of Turkmenistan within the framework of the Concept of the foreign-policy course of the country for 2013-2017 and the fulfillment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions, the President was informed that the resolution on the “Role of Transport and Transit Corridors in Ensuring International Cooperation, Stability and Sustainable Development” was adopted during the UN General Assembly with the support of all countries, members of the United Nations Organisation on December 19.

As was noted, this is the first document of the UN general Assembly on cooperation in the transport sphere that lays the foundation for establishment of the transportation system that combines the road, rail, sea and air routes through intermodal logistics centers and land ports. The resolution reflects the key positions on elaboration of a complex approach towards development of the transport and transit communications of Ashgabat declaration that was adopted during the International conference in September, 2014.

Expressing satisfaction with this news, the Turkmen leader noted that following its neutral status Turkmenistan pursued the policy based on the principles of peace and stability, sustainable economic development, the prosperity of people and strong international cooperation. Speaking about this, the President noted that our country constantly spotlighted the significance of the ecologically sustainable, safe and generally accessible transport and transit corridors.

Underlining that the resolution is a logical continuation of the large-scale work our country conducted over the years creating all necessary conditions for establishment of the international transport and transit corridors, the Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Organisation for the support of Turkmenistan’s initiatives.

The heads of regional administration reported on the current situation in their regions, seasonal agricultural activities and measures taken to implement the national rural development programme.

It was also reported on the preparations for the New Year’s celebrations in the country and architectural premiers in the Turkmen capital. The Turkmen leader was informed on the plan of events on occasion of declaring the city of Mary the cultural centre of the Turkic world in 2015.

The draft designs on widening the territories of the Badhyz and Koytendag Reserves and creating their protected environmental zones as well as layouts of lands allocated to ministries, departments, organisations, enterprises and peasant associations were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

Considering and approving the draft designs of the Reserves, the Turkmen leader noted that widening the territories of the Badhyz and Koytendag Reserves contribute to the ecological conditions in the country. Speaking about the allocation of lands to the various structures, the President underlined the necessity of the scientific and comprehensive approach to this issue and instructed the relevant officials to draft the layouts given the recommendations provided.

Commenting on the reports on the construction projects in the regions of the country, the Turkmen leader gave specific instructions on development of a special programme regarding construction of autoterminals, trade and entertainment centres as well as recreation parks in compliance with the international standards and modern requirements.

The President of Turkmenistan made a number of appointments during the meeting.
