My beloved people,
2014 – the year of the Horse – marked by the great achievements in the epoch of might and happiness is coming to an end. Little time will pass, and with hearty wishes and hopes we will be celebrating the New Year 2015 in which our Motherland will reach new heights of development.
The new year 2015 is the year of the Ram in the Eastern calendar. Let the Year of the Ram that embodies tranquillity, prosperity and generosity will be successful for each of you!
In 2014 we gained the tremendous accomplishments that have enhanced the prestige of our sovereign state and fame of our people.
We made great progress in achieving the objectives of enhancing the economic strength of our country and improving social and living conditions of the people and achieved good results in all the sectors of the economy.
Many factories, industrial facilities and social and cultural institutions were built and put into operation in our Motherland. We continued to implement the ambitious social project of comfortable apartment houses and modern villages and towns. The achievement of this strategic objective will enable us to ensure the most favourable living conditions for rural and urban people.
This vividly evidences that the slogan "the state for the people" we proclaimed is successfully implemented and the care for people is a priority of our state policy.
Our capital city Ashgabat that is called an architectural gem of the region grew and became more beautiful. New modern facilities were built at a rapid pace in the city.
The recent commissioning of Turkmen-Iranian section of Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad became an epoch-making event, the news of which spread around the world. We will continue to build such large-scale industrial, social and cultural facilities.
Fruitful work was done in the agricultural sector in 2014. Our courageous grain growers harvested over 1.2 million tons of high quality grain. Cotton growers who grew the rich harvest of ‘white gold’ brought over 1.1 million tons of cotton to the Motherland.
The ongiong work to promote health care, science, education and sport in our country serves the interests of all people. Ambitious reforms were implemented in the health care sector in 2014.
The effective measures were taken to modernize the education sector and improve the quality of education of the younger generation in compliance with international standards.
We carried out large-scale work to promote sport and physical culture in 2014. In 2017, we will host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games at the high organizational level in our capital city Ashgabat.
The role of our neutral Motherland in the system of international relations is steadily increasing and becoming more significant. 2014 is one of the fruitful years in terms of international cooperation for the country.
In the spring this year Turkmenistan was elected to the Commission on Science and Technology of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) for 2014-2017 at the meeting of this authoritative organisation and to the Commission for Social Development for 2014-2016. These events vividly illustrate the increasing international authority of our independent neutral state.
I would like to note that the effective work to develop the space industry has been done this year. We are going to launch the national satellite into outer space next year. It will be an outstanding event in the history of our sovereign state and people!
We are also pleased with the effective activities and achievements of our entrepreneurs who make their worthy contribution to the great accomplishments of our diligent people, working towards the progressive development of the Motherland and its economy.

Large-scale work to promote the national culture was done in 2014. We held the Week of Culture in Dashoguz Velayat at the international level. We will continue to pay special attention to the promotion of this sphere.
We have celebrated the 290th birth anniversary of our great poet and thinker Magtymguly Fraghi this year. The declaration of 2014 as the Year of Magtymguly at the international level strengthened the pride of the Turkmen people for their national values, spiritual and cultural heritage.
Turkmenistan makes its worthy contribution to cooperation among Turkic states. The recent declaration of Mary city as the cultural capital of the Turkic states in 2015 by the International Organization TURKSOY is another remarkable event that strengthens the pride in our glorious history.
We are going to hold a regular meeting of the Elders’ Council in the Avaza national tourism zone in Balkan Velayat in the autumn of 2015, at which we together with the elders will discuss the work to be done for the benefit of our Motherland.
The coming year will mark 20 years since the adoption of the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan. 2015 was declared as the Year of Neutrality and Peace at the meeting of the Elders’ Council, held in Lebap Velayat, as a sign of our pride for the status of neutrality of the Motherland. The activities which will be organized in honour of this remarkable event will showcase the achievements gained by our neutral state during the years of independence.

I firmly believe that 2015 we are welcoming with good wishes and hopes will be the year of outstanding accomplishments thanks to selfless work of our courageous people.
The inexhaustible talent, unbreakable unity and diligence of our people will give us strength in the coming year to implement large-scale programmes aimed at promoting the prosperity of the sovereign homeland.
