President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic Elmar Mammadyarov.
Expressing satisfaction with the high level of the interstate relations and great prospects of their further development given the mutual interest, existing potential and similar priorities of social and economic development of the two countries, the President of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic underlined the need to intensify fruitful contacts in a number of key areas, including the trade, economy, fuel and energy sectors, the paramount importance to development of which is traditionally paid to. Emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing the closest humanitarian and cultural contacts that serve to the further spiritual rapprochement of the two brotherly peoples, which are bound by history, common traditions and customs since ancient times.
The sides were unanimous that the consistent implementation of bilateral intergovernmental and high-level agreements as well as regular political consultations between foreign ministries, meetings between businessmen of the two countries and participation in large-scale cultural events would contribute to enhancing the intergovernmental dialogue built on the principles of equality and mutually respectful cooperation.
