President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference meeting with the hyakims of the regions, during which the priority tasks of the social and economic development of the regions within the framework of the complex reformatory programmes, the work done in the economic sectors in January, the progress of the seasonal agricultural works and other important issues of the domestic policy were considered.
The heads of regional administration reported on the current situation in their regions, the results of work done in January, the measures taken to solve the tasks set in the agro-industrial sector as well as further improvement of the social and living conditions.
Focusing on the works in the agro-industrial sector, the President inquired about the amount of precipitation and soil humidity as well as the progress in implementing agricultural campaigns.
Speaking about the cotton sowing campaign, the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant officials to increase the paces of tilling on the fields to be sown with this important industrial crop. The President also demanded to organise an efficient work on repairing and restoring cotton picking and grain harvester combines.
The draft designs and layouts of a new shopping centre to be built in Balkanabat by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and a modern motor terminal to be constructed in the administrative centre of Balkan Velayat were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
Considering the projects, the Turkmen leader approved them and instructed the relevant officials to keep the progress and quality of construction works under the rigorous control.
Emphasizing the importance of paying particular attention to the social welfare issues, the President of Turkmenistan underlined the importance of creating new jobs and organisation of programme events in this sphere. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also instructed the relevant officials to take the projects on construction of social and cultural facilities under the rigorous control.
The President issued the decrees on the appointment of high-ranking officials during the meeting.
