President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies for the first month of 2015 was considered. Chairperson of Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva attended the meeting.
The Chairperson of the Parliament and the members of the State Security Council presented the detailed reports to President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the measures taken to improve national laws on the prevention of illicit traffic in narcotic drugs, maintain social and public stability in the country and enhance national security, the progress of the ambitious military reform and the work done in January this year.
Commenting on the reports, the President focused on the need to modernize the laws so as to enhance the fight against illicit drug trafficking. In this regard, the Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of maintaining close contacts with public organisations and citizens to fulfil the tasks of further developing the country, improving the people’s welfare and strengthening the spiritual and moral foundations of the society.
Dwelling upon the mission entrusted to valorous defenders of the sacred borders of the Fatherland, who effectively perform their military and civic duty, the Turkmen leader instructed to continue to continue to pay close attention to the enhancement of the professional knowledge and skills of border guards and officers of the State Border Guard Service.
Dwelling upon the objectives of building up the defence capacity of our state by improving the national army through technical modernisation and combat training of each of the armed forces, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that sovereign Turkmenistan will always be committed to the status of neutrality and lofty principles of humanism and good neighbourliness of the Turkmen people which the Military Doctrine that is purely defensive and peaceful in nature is based on.
Emphasizing the key role of internal affairs agencies in ensuring stability and protecting the legitimate rights and freedoms of citizens, the President demanded that strict control over the activities of officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should be taken.
Focusing with satisfaction on the significance of work done in recent years to facilitate the implementation of the social and economic development plans and programme, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the important objectives to be achieved required the responsible attitude to the work assigned, improved professional and educational level and maximum output from every high-ranking official, every employee. In this context, emphasis was placed on the most responsible approach to personnel selection and work with young specialists who must fully meet the criteria of the high status of those rendering justice.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to the Head of the State Customs Service, including on the proper customs inspection of goods crossing the state border of Turkmenistan. Emphasis was also placed on the need to further strengthen material and technical resources of customs services and create favourable conditions for service and life of customs officers and their families.
Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting of the State Security Council.
