President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Ashgabat Hyakimlik, where the Turkmen leader held a meeting on the development prospects of the capital city of the country. It was focused on discussion of the Ashgabat Development Conception for 2015-2016.
Before the meeting, the President considered the construction projects to be implemented in Ashgabat, including housing estates, social and cultural facilities, motor roads, parks and sports facilities.
The Ashgabat Development General Plan with the detailed representation of the current and next development stages provides a clear idea of the scale of ongoing and future construction work and the location of future facilities and road networks.
When considering the perspective map of the city, the Turkmen leader showed particular interest in the projects of some facilities, dwelling upon on the functionality of their location. A number of questions were about the progress of construction work in the Olympic Village that would be another city centre. Noting the unsystematic character of site development in previous years, the Turkmen leader said that such chaotic layout was unacceptable and the principles of integrated urban development needed to be adopted completely in the new epoch.
The draft designs of facilities and buildings to be opened in Ashgabat in 2015 were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. This list, including over 60 items and even more facilities, was approved by the President of Turkmenistan at the government meeting on January 9.
The general work plan of road infrastructure modernisation, which includes the construction of bridges, underground and overground pedestrian crossings in Ashgabat, was presented during the meeting.
The reconstruction plans of administrative buildings, enterprises and housing estates, located in all the parts of the city, were presented during the meeting.
The projects aimed at ensuring reliable and stable power supply in Ashgabat through replacement of overhead transmission lines for power transmission cables were presented during the meeting.
The meeting continued in the assembly hall of the Ashgabat Hyakimlik building.
Addressing those present, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Ashgabat would host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in two years. Noting that the venue for the 2017 Asian Games would be “the city in the city”, the President expressed belief that the Olympic Village would be one of the most popular places of interest in Ashgabat, some kind of symbol of the capital of Turkmenistan.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dwelt upon on the improper organisation of works on improvement of the aesthetic appearance and creation of floristic attire of the city, in particular the planting of trees along streets, in parks and public gardens in all the districts of Ashgabat. The Turkmen leader instructed to organize the effective work to landscape the areas along the main streets.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov provided specific comments, including on the condition of the facades of buildings, street lighting of some sections of roads and their poor aesthetic appearance, the lack of parking spaces in some districts of the city and the unsystematic character of the work of utility enterprises. Noting that power outages in most cases arose due to the improper functioning of power plants, the improper distribution of electricity and the improper operation of control devices, the Turkmen leader instructed the high-ranking officials to eliminate these shortcomings as soon as possible.

The President signed the documents on the appointment of high-ranking officials of newly established Archabil Etrap of Ashgabat.
