President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visits the construction sites in the Olympic Village

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the construction sites in the Olympic Village in Ashgabat to see the progress of construction of the largest sports complex and discuss the new projects of sports facilities.

The Olympic Village will be the venue for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which Ashgabat will be hosting in 2017.

The cabinet ministers, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies, a number of ministries and departments and media, the Ashgabat Hyakim and the CEO of Polimeks –the company entrusted to implement the ambitious project – greeted President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Olympic Village.

The Turkmen leader gave specific instructions, emphasizing that newly built sports facilities in the Olympic Village should blend well with the architectural ensemble of the city.

The President began his visit to the Olympic village with the construction site of the hotel designed for 450 guests.


The animated film about the V Asian Games Torch Relay was presented to the Turkmen leader. The President reviewed the projects of sports facilities of the Olympic village and the building complexes to be built in Ashgabat.

The President reviewed the projects and draft designs of the new building of Nusay Hotel, located in the centre of Ashgabat, green zones, fountains and other facilities to be built on the territory of the hotel.

CEO of Polimeks Erol Tabanca reported on the characteristics of the facilities to be built in this part of the capital of Turkmenistan and presented the layouts of these facilities to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

The projects developed by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

On the second floor of the hotel the President held a working meeting on the preparations for the 2017 Asian Games with the high-ranking officials.

Then the Turkmen leader lifted to the tenth floor of the hotel building that offered a splendid panoramic view of the city.

The President visited the construction site of a 45,000-seat stadium in the Olympic Village.

Then the Turkmen leader headed to the indoor water sports complex under construction on the territory of the Olympic Village, which will host swimming and diving competitions and accommodate 5,000 spectators.

Before leaving the Olympic Village, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized once again that there was little time left before the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and focused on the need to ensure the high pace of construction work and the highest quality of sports facilities, which will be the venues for the prestigious competitions.

Bidding farewell to those present and wishing them every success in their work, the President left the Olympic Village.
