Independent neutral Turkmenistan celebrates one of the most remarkable dates in the national calendar – State Flag Day on February 19. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the celebrations held in the Turkmen capital to mark the national holiday.
In the morning, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived at the festively decorated square located in a picturesque part in the south of Ashgabat, where the majestic 133-metre flagpole - one of the tallest flagpoles in the world, on which the flag of Turkmenistan flies – is installed. The ceremony of laying flowers took place there with the participation of the leader of Turkmenistan to mark State Flag Day of Turkmenistan.
The cabinet ministers, the heads of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat, the elders, students, representatives of public organisations and the media cordially greeted the Turkmen leader on the venue. The heads of diplomatic representations and missions accredited in Turkmenistan, foreign businessmen working in our country and numerous Ashgabat citizens were the guests to the ceremony.
The flagpole with the state flag of Turkmenistan installed in one of the most beautiful districts of white-marble Ashgabat is seen from almost any part of the capital.
In a solemn atmosphere the President of Turkmenistan laid a wreath at the foot of the magnificent giant flagpole. Ceremony participants followed the Turkmen leader.
After the ceremony was concluded, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cordially bade a farewell to those present and left the venue.
