President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Economy, Trade and Tourism Minister of Romania Mihai Tudose, who arrived in Ashgabat, leading a delegation of his country.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest conveyed the leader of the Turkmen state the warm greetings from the President of Romania, who expressed his best wishes to the Turkmen people. Mr. Mihai Tudose confirmed Romania’s keen willingness to promote full cooperation with Turkmenistan on a long term mutually beneficial basis.
Expressing his greetings to the President of Romania, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that our country is always open for constructive business cooperation and aims to build up fruitful relations with Romanian partners. In this context, the President of Turkmenistan focused on the traditionally friendly and progressive nature of relations between Turkmenistan and Romania that have gained new momentum in recent years in bilateral format as well as within the dynamically developing dialogue with the European Union.
The President of Turkmenistan and his guest exchanged views on priority aspects of Turkmen-Romanian trade and economic cooperation, focusing on the existing profound potential for deepening it and diversifying bilateral trade. The promising areas of partnership included the industrial, high technology, energy and transport sectors given the ambitious projects of regional and international significance initiated by our country in these important areas. The tourism industry, which the two countries take consistent steps to promote, offers ample opportunities for cooperation.
In this aspect, emphasis was placed on the important role of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Romania Commission for economic, scientific and technical cooperation that had held the fifth meeting in Ashgabat lately. The sides also noted that bilateral business forums provided incentives to intensify business contacts in various fields.
The guest said that the constructive foreign policy of Turkmenistan and a favourable investment climate in the country made the Turkmen market promising and attractive for foreign, including Romanian, business circles, showing their growing willingness to contribute to the implementation of new joint projects. In this regard, Mr. Mihai Tudose said that Romania viewed Turkmenistan as a strategic partner in Central Asia.
Noting that Turkmenistan stood ready to consider the proposals of the Romania side for cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that our country, working towards the fundamental modernisation of the national economy and the implementation of comprehensive reform programmes, attached great importance to the adoption of international best practices and innovative technologies, which also promote concerted mutually beneficial efforts.
